Tom will teach his basic, 2-day, beginning carving Seminar on Saturday & Sunday during the Show/Sale. This is a super Seminar, and a must, if you are just getting started in carving or have carved for only a short time. The Seminar will cover carving knives, safety, use and selection of other (U & V) tools, sharpening, character eyes and hair, sanding and finishing (painting). Students will carve a finger to learn basic knife cuts, work on a snake to learn to work with wood grain, and select 1 or more of about 14 projects ranging in very easy to more challenging. Students should have a carving project finished or nearly finished by the end of the Seminar. Tom asks that you bring a carving knife and a carving glove if you have one or bring what you have. Tom will loan you the tools you need. Bring paper & pencil to take notes. For those first-time carvers & new Guild members only, the Guild will pay for this Seminar. Blanks are provided at no cost. ***NOTE: EVEN THOUGH THE GUILD WILL PAY FOR THE COST OF THE SEMINAR FOR NEW GUILD MEMBERS, THE NEW MEMBER WILL HAVE TO PAY $25 FOR MEMBERSHIP DUES & A $25 EVENT REGISTRATON FEE AT THE TIME THEY SIGN UP FOR THE BEGINNER'S CARVING SEMINAR***. Note:
