Welcome our Winter Texans Fred & Elaine Stenman. This is a 5 day seminar. It is recommend you attend all five days. The Students will learn the techniques developed by Elaine and Fred, which combine low relief carving with details that are wood burned. The carvings are painted with very thin acrylics and stained with oil paint. Tool techniques for full sized gouges and wood burning tools along with elements of design will be taught. New students will first execute a small (6”x 9”) practice piece which is just woodburned (no carving). This will be followed by the main project piece (approx. 9” x 15” or a 12.5” rounded board) which has the main design elements carved with woodburned details. Students may select from the Stenman’s original designs including an old barn or log cabin in a wooded setting with wildlife details. Other projects will be available. If you have a special project in mind, please contact us before the class begins. The projects will be executed in basswood with the bark remaining on the edge to create a natural frame. The paints and brushes are provided as well as stop boards and lights. The cost to student for this well rounded seminar is $300.00 plus the cost of board.
