Show Overview

Important Changes regarding the upcoming 2024 Carving

Competition

The Carving Competition will be conducted before the Seminars.  To help speed

the registration process, individual carvings will be accepted for carving competition entry beginning Friday, April 12, 2024 beginning at 1 pm.  This is the day before the competition begins.  Registration on Friday will end at 5 pm. For those who are unable to register on Friday, Saturday Registration will start at 7 am and end by 9 am.  Then the Judging will begin.

Look for the Show Packet on the TWG Website

at https://www.texaswoodcarversguild.com.  You will find entry forms that you must fill out and include with your carving entry.  Print out one entry form for each carving entered into competition.  The packet also includes an overview of the Show Process and the Tax and Liability Form you must sign and turn in during registration.

.

As in the past, we will award 1st through 3rd place pins for Novice, Intermediate and Open Category Winners, but also cash awards for major show winners (e.g. Best of Show, Best of Intermediate, etc.).  See Show Rules for details.

Be sure to look over the TWG website at above website address, for the latest information.  It contains the Show Competition Rules with all the details concerning categories and awards, as well as the Table Registration Form and the Entry Form for State Competition

This year (2024), we are pleased to have some great carving competition: Judges: Pat Moore and George Vaughn.  They have taught carving classes all around the U.S.  You can read their Bios on the TWG website at above website address.

If you have questions, need more clarification, or want to discuss, contact Robert Rangel, Show Chairman at 210-669-3181.
